KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 (Bernama) — Chong Lee Qian and Mirza Batrisyia Aghnia Nazri were crowned the boys’ and girls’ under-16 singles champions respectively in the AFFIN 100PLUS Junior Elite Tour Finals 2026 at the Juara Stadium here today.
According to a statement by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Lee Qian, who had relatively easier matches in the knockout stages yesterday, took an hour to beat national teammate Ng Hao Tong in the final.
Hao Tong won the first game 21-18 but Lee Qian fought back with a 21-8 win in the second.
Lee Qian easily won the decider at 21-11 to land his first national title this year.
Mirza Batrisyia was also pushed to the limit in her final clash with BAM teammate Chua Jing Xuan.
Mirza Bartisyia maintained her unbeaten record this week when she beat Jing Xuan 21-12, 14-21, 21-16 in a 65-minute duel to take the title.
BAM’s Teoh Chong Yee-Tze Han Wong won the boys’ under-16 doubles crown when they beat Selangor’s Max Foo Jin Tao-Yong Kiat Song 21-7, 21-14 in just 35 minutes.
The girls’ under-16 doubles crown went to BAM’s Leong Hwee Ling-Teoh Min Yi, who beat Iffah Husna Mohd Nasir Nur-Safia Mohd Ishraf Nuha from Putrajaya 21-13, 21-10 in the final.
