SHAH ALAM, June 22 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government has allocated RM1.5 million for the Selangor Career Programme to accelerate job-matching initiatives and help those who have lost their jobs find new career opportunities.
State Human Resources and Poverty Eradication Committee chairman V. Papparaidu said that, based on data from the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), a total of 12,355 job losses were reported from early this year until June 12, although 11,347 of them have since found employment.
"This data shows that the challenge that needs to be addressed is not simply the lack of job opportunities, but how to ensure that job seekers can be re-matched with available opportunities more quickly and effectively.
"The Selangor Career Programme will also strengthen skills training and help people obtain better quality jobs and better incomes. The state’s goal is clear: to ensure that people who have lost their jobs are not left to face challenges alone, but rather are guided to return to work and generate income,” he said.
He said this during the winding-up session of the tabling of the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package at the Selangor State Assembly sitting today.
The Selangor government announced the Selangor Resilience Strengthening Package Phase 2, comprising 15 initiatives with an allocation of RM209.26 million as a strategic measure to address the global energy crisis following developments in West Asia.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amiruin Shari said the initiatives outlined not only involved cash aid but also holistic economic empowerment measures, so that the revenue generated by the state will benefit the people.
The Special Assembly sitting is adjourned until 10 am tomorrow.
