KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- Aeon Co (M) Bhd has proposed to establish sukuk wakalah programmes with a combined aggregate limit of RM2 billion in nominal value to fund its shariah compliant requirements.

They consist of an Islamic commercial papers (ICP) programme and an Islamic medium term notes (IMTN) programme, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Aeon said the ICP has a programme tenure of seven years, while the IMTN has a perpetual programme tenure.

The first issuance of the ICP and IMTN under the sukuk wakalah programmes respectively will be made within 90 business days from the date of lodgement or such other period as may be imposed by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC).

It said the ICP and IMTN have been accorded credit ratings of P1 and AA2 respectively by RAM Rating Services Bhd.

Under both the sukuk wakalah programmes, AEON has the flexibility to issue sustainability  sukuk wakalah and/or sustainability-linked sukuk wakalah.
