KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) -- Norismadi Abd Manap, the head of RTM Sports Channel Operation, was returned unopposed as the Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM) president for the 2024-2027 term today.
At the triennial general meeting at the National Sports Council (NSC) in Bukit Jalil, Izahar Atan was also returned unopposed as deputy president.
"SAM will intensify efforts to empower sports journalists and fight for the rights of SAM members.
"The first task of the newly-elected SAM executive council members will be to assist members who will be on duty at the (July 26-Aug 11) Paris Olympic Games,” Norismadi said in a statement issued by SAM.
Meanwhile, 12 SAM members will be on duty at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, with the first group set to leave on July 22.
SAM was established in 1969 and registered in 1984, with the main objective of advocating for the rights of sports journalists in Malaysia.
