IPOH, July 17 (Bernama) -- Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) is assisting the family of its former student, murder victim Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, 25, throughout their stay in Tanjung Malim.

UPSI vice chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff said the assistance was to lighten the family’s burden while handling matters related to their deceased daughter during this difficult time.

“UPSI provides them with accommodation and transportation to facilitate their visits to hospitals, police stations, courts, and other related locations.

“UPSI also provides several buses for staff and students to accompany the deceased to the cemetery as a gesture of last respects,” he said in a statement here today.

The remains of Nur Farah, who hailed from Miri, Sarawak, were found in a palm oil plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, at 6 pm on July 15.  She was reported missing on July 10 after delivering a rental car to a customer.

UPSI, through Kolej Awang Had Salleh and its Islamic Centre, organised a Yassin recitation and tahlil ceremony for the victim this morning at the Al-Mursyidin Mosque at the Azlan Shah Campus, which Md Amin, UPSI staff, and students attended.
