TENGKU ANIS HOSPITAL TO BECOME CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR PHYSIOTHERAPY - DR ZAINI

KOTA BHARU, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Tengku Anis Hospital (HTA) in Pasir Puteh is set to become a centre of excellence and referral for physiotherapy services in Kelantan, according to State Health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.

Dr Zaini said steps have been taken towards this goal, including deploying experts from Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) to provide specialised services at HTA.

“We are in the early stages of establishing HTA as a centre of excellence in physiotherapy, a process that will require substantial support from the Ministry of Health," Dr Zaini told reporters at the seventh Ministry of Health Physiotherapy Conference, here today.

He further explained that the upcoming five to ten years will focus on enhancing expertise and acquiring necessary equipment, depending on fund allocation.

Dr Zaini highlighted that while all hospitals in Kelantan currently offer physiotherapy services, consolidating these at HTA aims to reduce congestion at HRPZ, following the successful model applied at Pasir Mas Hospital as a rehabilitation centre of excellence and referral.

Regarding the recent typhoid outbreak at a secondary school in Kota Bharu, Dr Zaini reported that no new cases have been detected since the last screening on July 7.

"We have successfully contained the outbreak and conducted screenings for typhoid among over 1,000 individuals in at-risk areas surrounding the affected school," he added.
