JAKARTA, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- ASEAN secretary-general Dr Kao Kim Hourn is set to lead an inaugural delegation from the ASEAN Secretariat on an official working visit to Chile from Sept 3 to 6.
This historic visit will be a landmark moment for ASEAN-Chile relations as it represents the first time an ASEAN secretary-general is making an official trip to a Latin American country.
Kao’s first working visit to Chile offers a key opportunity to boost the ASEAN-Chile Development Partnership, enhancing dialogue, cooperation, and ties as they celebrate the partnership’s fifth anniversary, according to the secretariat.
During the working visit, he will engage with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Economy, the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations, and the Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
He will also use this opportunity to join the fifth anniversary of the ASEAN-Chile Development Partnership and ASEAN Day, meet with the Federation of Chilean Industry, and give a lecture at the University of Chile and a keynote speech at a seminar at ECLAC.
Kao’s busy schedule includes meeting with the ASEAN Committee in Santiago to update them on ASEAN’s latest developments, discuss the ASEAN-Chile Development Partnership’s current status and future direction, and exchange views on how to enhance ASEAN-Chile relations.
