KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysian junior karter Zarief Rayqal Fahruddin has set his sights on the bigger prize at the IAME (Italian American Motor Engineering) World Warrior Finals 2024 (IWF24), which will be held in Valencia, Spain, next month.

The 14-year-old, who recently won the overall championship in the junior category at Asia’s leading international karting series, the IAME Series Asia 2024, said he has put in extra effort in training as laid down by his coach and trainer, Rohairijaz Mohd Ropin.

The DRM Racing Team karter is gearing up for the challenge in Valencia, even though a mountainous task awaits him as he needs to compete against the world’s best.

“I aim to make my parents and Malaysia proud. I will try my very best,” he said in a statement today.

The Cempaka International School student collected a total haul of 152 points to beat his Thailand team-mate, Krittach Jirayupa to retain the overall title for Malaysia after it was won by Katrina Ee last year.

Competing against a field of more than 30 drivers on tracks in Southeast Asia, Zarief won three of the six rounds to finish at the top of the championship this year.

IWF24 will feature four race categories, each representing the pinnacle of karting competitions in their respective age groups: the X30 MINI for young karting talents, the X30 JUNIOR for aspiring young drivers, the X30 SENIOR for experienced drivers, and the X30 MASTER, which is reserved for more mature and experienced drivers.
