CAIRO, Nov 11 (Bernama-SPA) -- Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit emphasised that the upcoming Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh represents a vital opportunity for Arab and Islamic nations to rally together and put an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.
Taking place a year after the first summit, this gathering will allow participants to reassess their stances and collaborative strategies in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese causes.
Spokesperson for the Secretary-General Gamal Roshdy shared Aboul Gheit's comments, highlighting that the international community has yet to rein in the Israeli military actions effectively.
Despite multiple efforts, the occupying forces remain resolute in their plans, suggesting that a more significant commitment is needed and that the current pressures on Israel are still inadequate.
He highlighted that Saudi Arabia played a crucial role last year by taking on the chairing position.
He anticipated to step up this involvement in light of the results from the upcoming summit.
