KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi praised the great fighting spirit shown by national mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin in the final of the 2024 China Masters, even though they eventually lost to the world number two pair Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping of China.

He said in a Facebook post tonight that both players put on a scintillating performance that absolutely thrilled the crowd.

“The fighting spirit they showed was extraordinary. Losing this time isn’t the end, but will spur them to even greater successes. Well done, you have made all Malaysians proud!” he posted.

Pang Ron-Su Yin fought Yan Zhe-Dong Ping tooth and claw, stretching the final to three sets before eventually losing 23-21, 23-25, 16-21 in the 93-minute match in Shenzhen Gymnasium, China.

The Malaysian pair’s best showing was winning the 2020 Malaysian International Challenge.
