SEPANG, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- In an era defined by rapid technological advancements, digitalisation has become a key enabler for industries striving to enhance efficiency, reduce costs and remain competitive as well as profitable.

The maintenance, repair and operation (MRO) sector in aviation is no exception, with Asia Digital Engineering (ADE), the MRO arm of Capital A Bhd at the forefront of this transformation.

ADE chief executive officer Mahesh Kumar described how the company was leveraging digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionise its operations while maintaining a lean structure.

“We invest significantly in digitalisation, automation and artificial intelligence, including technologies such as RFID tooling.

“It includes our Aerotrade marketplace for aircraft parts and a homegrown fleet monitoring and resource management solution, Elevade,” he told Bernama in an exclusive interview recently.

He explained that RFID tooling enables engineers and technicians to track equipment more efficiently during aircraft servicing, while reducing the risk of misplacing tools.

Meanwhile, the Elevade app offers predictive and preventive maintenance capabilities, advanced analytics, fleet tracking and cabin monitoring.

The app simplifies monitoring and provides real-time solutions for aircraft health.

Mahesh pointed out that Aerotrade, developed during the COVID-19 pandemic as an alternative revenue stream, has grown to become a major platform in the aviation sector.

It now manages more than US$200 million (RM884 million) worth of inventories owned by various global parties, consisting of rotable parts and consumables.

“Our focus on innovation and efficiency ensures that ADE remains competitive while meeting the growing demands of the aviation industry,” he said.

Capital A launched ADE in 2020 to strengthen its MRO capabilities, positioning it as a leading player in the regional aviation maintenance industry.

ADE recently opened a 14-line hangar, the largest in the country, at the KL International Airport (KLIA), spanning 20.25 acres within the KLIA Aeronautical Support Zone 1 under Malaysia Airports’ KLIA Aeropolis development.
