SHAH ALAM, Dec 27 (Bernama) -- The Selangor government will allocate over RM3 million to support the ‘Festival Turath Islami Selangor’ and Islamic arts programmes across the state in the coming year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the ongoing festival is part of the state government's efforts to promote Islam and nurture the spiritual well-being of the people.
“We aim to develop our nation and state, not just through grand buildings and luxury, but by also fostering the growth of individuals. One way to achieve this is by touching hearts and strengthening faith, along with love for Prophet Muhammad SAW,” he said.
“Events like this, which feature recitations of selawat, zikir and educational programmes focused on Islamic heritage, are crucial in helping to nurture the faith and spirit of the people,” he added.
He said this in his speech at the opening of the ‘Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat 2024’ at Setia City Park Oval Lawn here today.
Before this, the state government organised the second Festival Turath Islami Selangor from May 26 June 2, featuring 11 events, including the Daurah Hadis 40 programme, the Al Wahyu: The Islamic Knowledge Tradition of the Malay World exhibition, lectures, Munaqasah academic discussions and selawat programmes, with the participation of 23 Islamic scholars and intellectuals from both local and international backgrounds.
The Festival Darul Ehsan Berselawat 2024, a three-day event dedicated to supplication, zikir and selawat, kicked off today (Dec 27) and will run until midnight, with free entry for all attendees.
Among the distinguished speakers at the event are Dr Habib Luthfi Ali Yahya, an Indonesian religious scholar, along with Habib Nael Ben Taher and Habib Najmuddin Al-Khered.
