HANOI, Jan 15 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Vietnam targets US$8 billion in fruit and vegetable export revenue in 2025, building on the strong performance of US$7.1 billion in 2024, reported Xinhua quoting local media which cited the Vietnam Fruits and Vegetables Association Tuesday.

Vietnam aims for US$8 billion in fruit and vegetable export revenue in 2025, building on the strong performance of US$7.1 billion in 2024, according to the Vietnam Fruits and Vegetables Association, as reported by Xinhua on Tuesday.

Nguyen Thanh Binh, the association's chairman, said although trade tensions and geopolitical conflicts would be the major challenges to agricultural export in 2025, the US$8 billion export target is feasible, hinging on businesses' expansion of their share in key markets and investment in modern post-harvest technology.

Enterprises should pay due attention to improving product quality and enhancing competitive edge while maintaining strict compliance with bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, he said.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports in 2024 increased by 27.1 per cent compared to 2023, marking the first year the revenue exceeded the US$7 billion mark.    Vietnamese produce notably strengthened its position in key markets, rising to second place from third in China, while recording remarkable growth of over 30 per cent in the US and 80 per cent in Thailand, said the ministry.
