KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Swimming Federation (MAS) has identified a candidate for the post of national diving team technical director, left vacant by Bryan Nickson Lomas.

Its secretary-general, Andy Low, said three individuals had expressed interest in filling the post, after Bryan submitted his resignation letter on Dec 23.

"This time, we are prioritising local candidates and not inviting outsiders. The candidate is a diver who has also competed in the Olympics.

"This individual is expected to be announced by mid-February at the latest," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Andy said the decision to choose a local candidate for the position is to ensure the continuity of the national diving team.

"We are taking local talent because they understand our culture. So, they won’t have any issues adapting to our way," he said.

Previously, the media reported that Bryan resigned after being offered a coaching position with a country in Asia.

According to Bryan, his last day of work with the national squad was on Jan 22.

It is understood that among the names being considered for the position are Yeoh Ken Nee, Datuk Leong Mun Yee and Ooi Tze Liang.
