KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 (Bernama) -- Mutual respect is among the foundations of harmony that Malaysians have always upheld, Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, said.

Her Majesty said it has also contributed to the nation’s unity and well-being.

In a post on the Facebook page of Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today, Raja Zarith Sofiah stressed the importance of being courteous and fostering mutual respect in society, both at home and abroad.

“Her Majesty reminded, particularly the Muslims in the country, of a hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari,” the post said.

The hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah RA, in which Prophet Muhammad said: “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbour. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honour his guest. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day must either speak good or remain silent.”

Recalling an occasion in February, the Queen warmly interacted with more than 100 tourists from various countries at the main entrance of Istana Negara.

“This reflects Her Majesty’s graciousness and concern for the people and visitors to the country,” the post added.
