BUTTERWORTH, June 19 (Bernama) -- Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has expressed satisfaction with the response to the RIUH Pi HAWANA carnival, describing it as a platform that showcases local creative talents and entrepreneurs.

He was also pleased with the smooth organisation of the programme, held in conjunction with National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2026 at the parking grounds of the PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena here.

The programme had not only attracted encouraging public attendance but also provided opportunities for artistes from different generations to engage with audiences, Fahmi added.

“So far, I am satisfied. I see that many artistes have been brought in, including Exists. I think this is a good opportunity for us to showcase artistes, not only veterans but also younger talents, for everyone to enjoy,” he told reporters at the event tonight.

Fahmi encouraged the public, particularly those in Penang, to attend the programme, which runs until Sunday, and enjoy its performances and activities.

He also hoped the programme would continue to be held in conjunction with future HAWANA celebrations, providing a wider platform for local entrepreneurs to introduce and market their products.

Organised by MyCreative Ventures, the RIUH Pi HAWANA carnival brings together more than 24 local creative brands and 20 food and beverage vendors, while also featuring interactive workshops that allow visitors to explore a range of creative activities.

The event is further enlivened by 18 live performances featuring established acts and emerging local talents, including Exists, Bunkface, Masdo, Sakura Band, Fugo, Budak Nakal Hujung Simpang and Chelsia Ng.

Introduced in 2018, HAWANA is organised by the Communications Ministry, with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) serving as the implementing agency.
