SEREMBAN, June 19 (Bernama) -- Police have confirmed that a 16-year-old female student passed away after she was found unconscious at a secondary school here this morning.
Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Alzafny said that his department received information regarding the matter at 10:48 am, and a team of police officers and personnel was deployed to the scene to conduct further investigations.
“The victim was confirmed dead at the scene, and police conducted an inspection at the location as well as identified several individuals to assist with the investigation. The victim's body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Rembau Hospital for a post-mortem, to identify the cause of death,” he said in a statement here today.
He added that the case has initially been classified as sudden death, and police are continuing further investigations, including recording statements from several witnesses and awaiting the post-mortem report.
The public have been advised to not make any speculations or spread unverified information that could disrupt the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Negeri Sembilan State Education Department (JPNS), in a statement today, extended its condolences to the student's family and launched an immediate internal investigation to look into all aspects related to the incident.
