SHAH ALAM, July 15 (Bernama) -- A factory worker was killed this morning after being crushed by a 17-level storage rack at a glove manufacturing plant in Banting, near here.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they were informed of the incident involving a foreign worker at 10.54 am and arrived at the scene 10 minutes later.
"An initial report from the operations commander indicated that the incident involved six male victims, five of whom had been rescued before the fire department arrived.
"All five victims, aged between 20 and 30, also sustained injuries," he said in a statement today.
Ahmad Mukhlis said a search effort was carried out for the sixth victim, aged 33, who was found at 11.20 am beneath a pile of goods and was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The operation involved nine firefighters and officers from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Fire and Rescue Station.
