JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- The Sessions Court here today set tomorrow for sentencing of an unemployed man who pleaded guilty to a charge of setting fire to a tow truck belonging to the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB).
Wan Muhammad Nasrul W Ahmad, 31, made the after the charge was read out to him before Judge Thalha Bachok @ Embok Mok.
He was charged with committing mischief by fire using petrol with the intent to destroy an MBJB tow truck, resulting in a loss of RM24,000 at the vehicle storage depot, Lot 1, Johor Bahru Waterfront, at 11.07 am last Aug 15.
The charge, under Section 435 of the Penal Code, provides imprisonment of up to 14 years and a fine upon conviction.
Judge Thalha allowed Wan Muhammad Nasrul bail of RM7,000 with one surety and also ordered him to surrender his passport to the court.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutors R Navina and Siti Fatimah Mamu.
