KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- Kuala Lumpur police have issued 2,077 advocacy notices to road users during Operation Compliance with the Law (OP PUU) advocacy campaign, which began on Sept 6.
Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, said that so far, a total of 2,784 vehicles were inspected, while four vehicles were towed.
“In addition, 24 notices were issued by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and 126 notices by the Road Transport Department (JPJ),” he said in a statement, today.
According to him, the advocacy campaign aims to educate road users on the importance of obeying the law before the actual OP PUU is implemented, with advocacy notices issued for minor offences without summons.
“The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) also held OP Didik, to raise road safety awareness among primary and secondary school students who ride or drive vehicles,” he said.
“So far, 18 advocacy notices have been issued, and 18 students have been inspected during the operation,” he said.
He added that the OP PUU advocacy campaign will continue until a set date, after which a summons will be issued to any party who violates the law.
