JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- The Johor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained five individuals, including three civil servants, on suspicion of conspiring to submit documents with false details to obtain payments for the supply of heifers (young cows before first calf) from a statutory body amounting to approximately RM200,000.
According to sources, the suspects, comprising a woman and four men aged between 30 and 60, were detained separately when they appeared to give their statements at the MACC office in Segamat, between 11 am and 2 pm today.
"Based on initial investigations, all the suspects conspired to certify and submit documents with false information regarding a claim for payment of a supply of heifers to a statutory body in a district in the state amounting to approximately RM200,000, even though the supply was not carried out.
"All the suspects, comprising a company owner and a manager, are believed to have committed the act in February 2023," he said.
Meanwhile, Johor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin@Hamim, when contacted, confirmed the arrests and stated that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
According to him, three of the five suspects will be brought to the Segamat Magistrate's Court tomorrow for a remand application.
