SUNGAI PETANI, March 24 (Bernama) -- A fire broke out in a home in Kampung Bukit, Sungai Pasir, near here today, leaving two women injured.
Tikam Batu Fire and Rescue Station Operations Commander Assistant Superintendent Fauzi Shuib said the department received a call about the incident at 11.51 am.
“Eleven firefighters from the Tikam Batu and Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the scene, assisted by the Bakar Arang and Sungai Petani Volunteer Fire Brigades,” he said in a statement today.
Fauzi said the blaze, which damaged about 90 per cent of the house, left a woman in her 40s with first-degree burns on both legs and another in her 50s with breathing difficulties.
“The victims were given initial treatment at the scene before being taken to hospital. The fire was brought under control at 1.10 pm and the operation ended at 3.07 pm,” he said.
