KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- A male Indian national was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here today with murdering his compatriot in Taman Sri Sinar, Kepong two weeks ago.
S Thangaraju, 53, who is homeless, is charged with murdering Paleni, 60, at the back alleyway of an optical shop along Jalan Lang Kuning, Taman Sri Sinar, Kepong near here between 11.33 pm to 11.47 pm on March 17, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which has a death sentence upon conviction.
The accused only nodded in understanding after the charge was read to him in Tamil in front of Magistrate Aina Azahra Arifin and no plea was recorded from him as murder cases are under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutor Hench Goh while the accused was unrepresented.
The court set June 10 for case remention.
