SHAH ALAM, April 22 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) foiled a diesel embezzlement attempt involving a tanker lorry at a petrol station in Pandamaran, Klang, this evening.

Selangor KPDN chief enforcement officer Mohd Hanizam Kechek said the incident came to light during a routine patrol when officers spotted a tanker lorry refuelling in a suspicious manner.

“Checks revealed that the lorry’s original tank had been modified to enable diesel transfer to an additional tank,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Hanizam said enforcement personnel on duty also seized diesel worth RM6,000 during the patrol, while the estimated total value of the seizure in this case stood at RM62,000.

He said initial investigations found that the lorry was driven by a local man, in his 30s, who did not possess valid documents for the ownership and transportation of diesel, resulting in his arrest for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, while the petrol station may also face action under the Supply Control Regulations 1974.

Meanwhile, Mohd Hanizam said the implementation of Ops Tiris 4.0 by Selangor KPDN from March 16 until yesterday saw 852 inspections carried out, covering 676 petrol stations, 24 fuel wholesalers, 146 non-petroleum retail premises, one hardware shop with a controlled goods permit, and five illegal premises.

He added that total seizures recorded under Ops Tiris 4.0 had so far exceeded RM300,000.

“Selangor KPDN will not compromise with any party found to have failed to comply with the provisions under the Control of Supplies Act, and action may be taken against any individual or company involved.

“We are also serious about recommending the cancellation or suspension of Fleet Card approval for any party found to have misused facilities under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) and fishermen’s subsidies in Selangor,” he said.
