TDM Foils Attempt To Smuggle Drugs Into Indonesia

KUCHING, April 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Army (TDM) foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs into Indonesia during an operation in the Serikin border area, Bau near here on Monday.

The First Malaysian Infantry Divisio headquarters said in a statement today that the success was the result of the actions of the 11th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (11 RAMD) under the 3rd Malaysian Infantry Brigade (3 Brigade).

According to the statement, the team detected an Indonesian man carrying a package attempting to cross the border from Malaysia to Indonesia using an illegal route.

"The operation team acted by detaining and inspecting the man and found that he did not have any travel or identification documents.

"The interrogation results found that the man was carrying a package containing drugs from Malaysia to be smuggled into Indonesia," it said.

According to the statement, further inspection of the package revealed various types of drugs, with a total seizure value of RM127,350.

Among the items seized were 795 grammes of methamphetamine worth RM119,250; 250 Eramin 5 pills worth RM7,500; and three bottles of vape liquid believed to contain prohibited substances worth RM600.

"The suspect and the seized drugs have been taken to Bau police station for further action.

"TDM also urges any agency or individual with information regarding illegal cross-border activities to channel the information to the operating team so that cross-border criminal activities can be curbed more effectively," it added,
