MELAKA, May 29 (Bernama) -- A teenage boy suspected of supplying a mushroom vape to his 14-year-old girlfriend since February was arrested yesterday and remanded for five days beginning today to assist in investigations.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the Form Four student was brought before the court, which granted the remand order.

"A urine screening test found the suspect negative for drugs. Investigations are also ongoing to determine the source of the mushroom vape supply," he said when contacted today.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and Section 376 of the Penal Code.

The 14-year-old girl was suspected of injuring herself by slashing her neck and hands on Sunday while under the influence of a mushroom vape allegedly obtained from her boyfriend.

Preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred at a house in Jonker Walk after the victim became distressed when her 49-year-old foster mother prevented her from going out with the boy.

The victim was rushed to Melaka Hospital for treatment and was discharged on Wednesday.
