PUTRAJAYA, May 12 (Bernama) -- The Islamic Development Department Malaysia (Jakim) and Mercy Mission Malaysia today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) here today to provide syarie counselling for women.
Jakim director-general Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff said through the Sisterhood Group Interactive Syarie Counseling and Usrah programme, the department would contribute expertise and professionals in syarie counselling and Islamic psychospiritual.
Syarie counselling and Islamic psychospiritual will be used as an approach to help members of the community having personal problems, whether cognitive, emotional, behavioral or spiritual, she said in her speech at the MoU signing.
The speech was read out by Jakim deputy director-general (Operations) Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee.
Meanwhile, Mercy Mission Malaysia advisor Kartine Baharudin said they hoped to help 50 women through the Sisterhood group counseling programme.
She said Jakim would provide 10 registered counsellors for the programme.
The counseling sessions will be conducted online and every three months there will be face-to-face sessions between counselors and participants, she said, adding those keen to join the programme as participants can register at www.sisterhood.com.my.
