ISKANDAR PUTERI, May 16 (Bernama) -- The Johor State Government will implement a Time-Based Promotion Based on Excellence (TBBK) starting this year for religious school teachers grade DG29.
State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said the implementation of the TBBK will allow religious school teachers to enjoy promotion in a shorter period.
"If compared to the previous year, it took 10 years for these religious school teachers to be promoted from DG29 to DG32 and there was no promotion from DG32 to DG34 and the appointment stopped at DG32 grade.
"With the implementation of the scheme approved by Mnistry of Education, the promotion period will be shorter, from 10 years to 8 years for the grade increase from DG29 to DG32 and religious school teachers will enjoy the grade increase from DG32 to DG34 taking into account the 8-year period for the increase," he said at the Third Session of the 15th Johor State Assembly at the Bangunan Sultan Ismail here today.
He said this when replying an oral question by Abd Mutalip Abd Rahim (BN-Layang-Layang) on complaints related to the shortage of Johor religious school teachers and measures to overcome the problem.
He said the state executive council (MMK) meeting has approved the implementation of TBBK in principle and is now studying the process of its implementation.
"With the improvement of the promotion scheme, this will increase the interest of teachers to continue serving and ultimately reduce the problem of teacher shortage in religious schools," he said.
According to Mohd Fared, until April 30 this year, 2,878 teacher appointments at Johor State Religious Schools, consisting of 2,473 with permanent status and 230 with contract status, have been filled out of 3,151 teacher warrants and assisted by 1,921 KAFA teachers in 582 religious schools with capacity 198,375 students throughout the state of Johor.
