SPM SCHOOL LEAVERS TOLD TO GRAB CHANCE TO FURTHER STUDIES IN IPMA

08/06/2024 04:20 PM

MELAKA, June 8 (Bernama) -- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers are encouraged to seize the various opportunities offered by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) through the Mara Educational Institutions (IPMA) to further their studies, especially in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) fields.

MARA Council member Datuk Seri Hasan Malek said this is because the MARA educational sector so far has 287 IPMA centres which provide TVET and professional fields of study and have recorded a graduate marketability rate of up to 94.34 per cent by producing 28,808 graduates in 2023.

"This is because the MARA education sector has a comprehensive ecosystem whereby once the students complete their SPM, they can join the IPMA from the certificate, basic, diploma and degree levels right up to the highest level either in the country or abroad.

"Even the variable student loan facility provided can ensure that they complete their education. This means there are opportunities in various fields, including automotive, solar and engineering and they must seize these opportunities,” he said.

He told reporters this after officiating the launch of the South Zone-level MARA Education and Career Carnival at the Ayer Keroh Bistari Mini Stadium here today, which was also attended by state Investment, Industry, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Development Committee deputy chairman Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar and Melaka MARA director Nurul Azmi Johari.

He said the educational opportunities under the MARA institution through TVET were crucial to intensifying the country's industrial growth by way of producing more manpower that is competitive and highly competent.

He also said that the organisation of such IPMA carnivals nationwide would also be used as a platform for graduates of higher education institutions to find job opportunities.

"Like in Melaka, the Career Carnival was also held and it offered over 1,500 job opportunities in collaboration with industry partners, as a guarantee of employment by MARA TVET,” he said.
