Civil Servants Must Maintain Professionalism, Integrity In Service - KSN

31/07/2024 04:22 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali has urged all civil servants to continue delivering services with unwavering professionalism and integrity, particularly in the current challenging and uncertain post-normal era.

He said that continuous efforts should be consistently mobilised for the country’s progress and development, while upholding the pledge of professionalism in public service to ensure excellent service delivery.

Mohd Zuki, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), urged the university staff to continuously implement improvements in systems, regulations and work processes for the benefit of both the institution and society.

“Universities play a crucial role in ensuring that all government agendas are realised more effectively and swiftly.

“The study process at universities produces the country’s best talents, instilled with strong national principles and values,” he said in his speech at UKM’s Excellent Service Awards (APC) 2024 at Dewan Canselor Tun Abdul Razak, UKM, yesterday.

At the ceremony, a total of 724 recipients were honoured, including those receiving the 30-Year Service Award, the 20-Year Service Award, and the 2024 Excellent Service Award, in recognition of their dedication and service at UKM.

Also honoured were disabled staff member Mohd Redha Izwan Adnan, who was awarded the APC, and Prof Dr Siti Rozaimah Sheikh Abdullah, recognised for setting a record by receiving the APC for the fifth time throughout her service.

Meanwhile, UKM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman said the awards should not be viewed as the ultimate benchmark of excellence and urged the recipients to keep contributing ideas and delivering the best possible service for the university and community’s excellence.

“A desire for excellence must be present in each individual. Let this award serve as both a challenge and an inspiration for all UKM staff to elevate the quality of their respective services,” he said.

Mohd Ekhwan also called on all recipients to embody the qualities of sugar, which retains its sweetness even after it has dissolved and is no longer visible.

“Leave a lasting legacy by delivering exceptional service in every role you undertake. As an employer, UKM management has implemented numerous initiatives to ensure the excellence of its human capital and the well-being of all UKM members,” he said.
