Southern Zone Madani Rakyat Programme Expected To Attract More Visitors

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The Southern Zone ‘MADANI Rakyat 2024 dan Setahun Ekonomi MADANI’ programme, scheduled to take place at the Dataran Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor, from Aug 15 to 17, is expected to attract more visitors than previous programmes.

The MADANI Rakyat 2024 chief coordinator Mohd Zainuddin Mohd Noor said that the programme has consistently received positive responses, often surpassing initial targets.

“We still aim for 100,000 visitors, but (the number) always exceeds the target. For instance, the Central Zone saw over 150,000 attendees, the Northern Zone attracted more than 280,000, and the Eastern Zone drew over 300,000.

“This event is not a competition but a means of delivering direct services to the people, including helping the people facing the high cost of living through initiatives like the MADANI Rahmah Sale and so on,” he said when appearing as a guest on the Bernama TV’s 'Apa Khabar Malaysia' programme today.

He also said that the timing of the event during UTM Skudai’s semester break is expected to contribute to the increased visitor numbers, along with the presence of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) holders.

Mohd Zainuddin said that the programme will offer 170 direct services from various ministries, government, and state agencies. These services include payment of Royal Malaysia Police traffic summonses with discounts of up to 50 per cent and a helmet exchange programme by the Road Transport Department.

“The Home Ministry (KDN) will also hold the Quran exchange programme, where as many as 500 copies of the Quran, stamped by the KDN, will be available for exchange with damaged and unstamped copies,” he said.

He also extended an invitation to the public to attend a forum with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is scheduled to officiate at the closing ceremony on Aug 17.

To facilitate visitors, more than 1,000 parking spaces will be available, along with shuttle bus services, prayer facilities, toilets, and dining options.

The Southern Zone MADANI Rakyat 2024, which includes Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, is organised by the Performance Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) of the Prime Minister’s Office, with the strategic cooperation of the Ministry of Economy and the Johor government.

The MADANI Rakyat is a continuation of the One Year with the MADANI Government which was held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in December last year.
