Quality Of Teaching, Structured Training For KAFA Teachers Needs To Be Emphasised

02/09/2024 05:57 PM

KANGAR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- The quality of teaching and learning for Al-Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) classes, through consistent and structured teacher development and training, requires attention and emphasis.

The Regent of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, said that KAFA teachers should be trained with up-to-date training modules and effective teaching methodologies, along with the integration of technology in teaching, to ensure the effectiveness of KAFA education in developing students.

"Relevant KAFA implementing agencies must be vigilant in identifying any weaknesses so that the developed modules and provided training are appropriately tailored to address them," he said when launching the national-level KAFA Convention 2024 at Dewan 2020 here today.

Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, was also in attendance. Also present was Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said KAFA implementing agencies at all levels should strive to provide better physical facilities, especially comfortable and conducive classrooms for students.

"Technological equipment such as computers, projectors, and teaching aids are needed to support digital and interactive learning," he added.

Furthermore, His Royal Highness mentioned that to support children's learning and development, KAFA implementing agencies should consider suitable strategies to encourage active participation from the community and parents in KAFA programmes.

"Establish partnerships with nearby mosques and social institutions so that the practice of Islamic ways of life can be further expanded and applied outside the classroom," he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Na’im said the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) had initiated the Al-Falah Transformation Plan, which places Islamic education as one of its key pillars.

"This aspect is emphasised to drive sustainable, holistic, and inclusive Islamic education in line with the Malaysia Plan and existing national policies, to elevate the ummah's civilisation towards Malaysia MADANI," he said.

He added that there were 35,000 KAFA teachers and 1,271,837 KAFA students in the country as of last August.
