KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- The Communications Ministry, in collaboration with TM Technology Service Sdn Bhd (TM), will host the 2024 Communications Carnival at the Hutan Bandar Putra Recreational Park in Kulai, Johor, on Sept 6 and 7.

The ministry’s deputy secretary-general (Telecommunications Infrastructure) Mano Verabathran announced that the carnival will run from 8.30 am to 10 pm on Friday and from 7 am to 7 pm on Saturday.

The event will feature a variety of exciting programmes, including the Communications Fun Run Carnival, MADANI Community Sports @ Kulai Parliamentary, and a personalised stamp service by Pos Malaysia.

“Additionally, there will be an initiative to exchange old copies of the Quran for new ones, certified by the Home Ministry, at no cost, as well as a lucky draw and mini concerts,” he said when appearing as a guest on Bernama Radio’s ‘Temu Bual’ programme.

The carnival, themed ‘Literasi Komunikasi, Masa Depan Harmoni,’ will be officially opened by Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching at 9.30 am on Sept 7.

He said that the carnival will offer direct services through strategic partnerships with various ministries and agencies, including the Home Ministry, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, Finance Ministry, Royal Malaysia Police, and telecommunications companies such as CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, and YTL (YES).

Additionally, departments and agencies under the Communications Ministry, including the Broadcasting Department (RTM), the Information Department (JaPen), and the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), will host a range of activities.

“The Communications Carnival is an opportunity for the local community to understand, observe and evaluate the policies and initiatives implemented by the government, to enhance the well-being of the people,” he said.

He expressed hope that the carnival would help bridge the gap between the government and the public, fostering an informed society through the delivery of up-to-date and accurate information.

“A variety of exciting activities and gifts will be available for all visitors. We advise visitors to keep themselves and their families, especially children, safe, and to bring umbrellas due to unpredictable weather conditions.

“The secretariat also provides parking site, surau, toilets, dining area and more, for the comfort of visitors,” he said.
