MADANI Rakyat 2024 Programme A Hit In Sabah, Draws 350,000 Visitors

KOTA KINABALU, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The MADANI Rakyat 2024 Sayangi Sabah programme, which ends today after three days at the Likas Sports Complex, has received a resounding response from the people in the state.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the programme had drawn 350,000 visitors as of 10 am, and the number was expected to increase by its close later today.

"I also went down today to meet with exhibitors, staff and visitors to hear feedback from our community. The Government departments and agencies also interacted with them because community input is essential for improving our services.

"It is also important to convey the government's message and programme to get feedback on how to improve the initiatives involved, how the government can improve its implementation and its value," he told reporters after visiting the program here today.

He said people's feedback was important, enabling the government to improve the services of departments and agencies. This was especially true of bringing all government services together with the one-stop centre concept.

On organising the programme for next year, Armizan did not rule out the possibility that it could be taken to states and locations that were not listed this year, allowing more people nationwide to enjoy the effects of the MADANI Rakyat Programme.

Citing the example of this year's Sabah Zone programme, which was held in Kota Kinabalu, he said that other locations, such as Tawau and Sandakan, could also be considered next year.

The Sabah Zone is the sixth location and concludes the MADANI Rakyat Programme this year after being held for the Central Zone in Selangor, the Northern Zone in Penang, the Eastern Zone in Pahang, the Southern Zone in Johor and the Sarawak Zone.

For the Sabah Zone, the programme's implementation involved strategic collaboration involving the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) as the lead ministry, the Sabah government, and the Project Acceleration and Coordination Unit (PACU) of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM).

Meanwhile, commenting on the Movement to Combat Manipulation and Leakage (GEMPUR) launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday, Armizan said the initiative required the people's cooperation to be realised.

"It involves various agencies such as enforcement at the border to prevent leakage and so on, but the people are needed as the eyes and ears to lodge complaints on the misconduct involving this leakage," he said.

He said GEMPUR played a vital role in the government's efforts to ensure that aid, especially subsidies, reached the intended target groups.
