Pahang Sultan Presents House Keys To 15 Ru'RASA Home Recipients In Lipis

LIPIS, Dec 3 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, today presented house keys to 15 recipients of the Rumah Rakyat Al-Sultan Abdullah (Ru’RASA) in a ceremony held here.

Also gracing the event in Kampung Tanjung Gahai here was Tengku Ampuan of Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail was in attendance.

Al-Sultan Abdullah, when speaking to reporters, suggested that future Ru’RASA homes, especially those located near the river, be built on high poles, similar to traditional Malay houses.

The Pahang Sultan was of the view that this measure could help protect residents’ properties from the annual flood season in the state.

“We want to ease the burden of flood victims. We don’t want to build homes only for them to suffer from floods...if a house is built on higher ground without high poles, it should be fine as it won’t be affected by floods...This is something that we can look into and improve,” he said.

The Ruler urged residents living near Sungai Pahang and its tributaries to prepare for floods and stay alert to weather changes while praying for the safety of the people from any misfortune.

Al-Sultan Abdullah also called on the Muslim community to continue praying for favourable weather.

A total of 15 Ru'RASA units, each with an area of 750 square feet, were built in the second phase of the project in this district, beginning on July 15 and completed by Nov 4.

The landed and stilted Ru’RASA homes, designed by the Public Works Department, feature a living room, dining area, kitchen, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms.

Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy expressed his gratitude to the Sultan of Pahang for granting the house to the Lipis residents, reflecting his deep concern for the people.

In his speech, he stated that the donation of the house was Al-Sultan Abdullah’s idea and a demonstration of his love for the people, ensuring they have a safe and comfortable home.

Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah then attended the Jamuan Rakyat Bersama Penduduk Kampung Tanjung Gahai at Dataran Santuari, where they spent time mingling with the local community.
