MyEnergyStats Portal To Improve Access To National Energy Data

16/01/2025 09:46 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 (Bernama) – The MyEnergyStats portal, the country’s open data gateway for the energy sector developed by the Energy Commission (ST), has had a wide-ranging impact in meeting domestic and international needs, said ST chief executive officer, Datuk Abdul Razib Dawood.

He said the data published through the portal is used in various important reports, including reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and preparing the country’s Biennial Transparency Report (BTR), which is in line with the Paris Agreement commitments.

“This data is also used to support the development of the National Energy Policy (DTN) and related implementation plans such as the Malaysia Renewable Energy Roadmap (MyRER) and the National Energy Transition Plan (NETR).

“In fact, it is also used by international bodies such as the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC) in the APEC Energy Demand and Supply Outlook report and the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) in the ASEAN Energy Outlook report,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, officiated the launch of the MyEnergyStats portal which replaces the Malaysia Energy Information Hub (MEIH), which has been operating since 2012.

He said the new portal offers features such as infographics, data visualisation, interactive maps and more systematic data collection. The portal is also equipped with a mobile application that can be downloaded by iOS, Android and Harmony OS users.

According to Fadillah, the portal, developed by the Energy Commission (ST), is an important instrument that provides real data and analysis to formulate energy policies more strategically.
