Sunway Theme Parks Enhances Explorer Rangers Programme Through Strategic Partnerships

PETALING JAYA, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- Sunway Theme Parks has signed a Memorandum of Partnership (MoP) for its Explorer Rangers programme, collaborating with major industry leaders to provide experiential learning and youth empowerment.

The programme not only equips children with essential skills for adulthood but also teaches sustainable practices through its strategic partners.

Sunway Theme Parks executive director Calvin Ho said the initiative seeks to combine industry knowledge with hands-on learning experiences, offering young participants essential skills and real-world exposure.

"Explorer Rangers is an educational programme that teaches children about animals, zoos and most importantly their habitats. It is one of our commitments towards community and education under the ESG umbrella.

“We also want them to be equipped with other essential skills such as safety, fire prevention and emergency response. This is where our key partners come into play," he said after the signing of the MoP here.

The partnership brings together key organisations, including RHB Bank Berhad, Sunway University, Sunway X-Farms, Sunway Medical Centre, Farm Fresh Malaysia, POS Malaysia, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia and the Faculty of Creative Arts at Universiti Malaya.

In addition, the programme—which previously catered to younger participants—is expanding its age range to include those aged 13 to 17, aiming to inspire a new generation of leaders.

"One of the most inspiring stories we have is of a former junior ranger. He started with us when he was just 7 years old, and through his early experiences in the programme, he developed a passion for animals.

“Today, he’s a professional veterinarian at Sunway Wildlife Park. His journey shows the long-term impact of the programme and how it can shape a child's future," he shared with the media.

Ho also announced that Sunway Theme Parks will provide free membership to children, particularly from the B40 community, ensuring equal access to learning opportunities for all.

“This is not just about attracting visitors, it's about building future leaders who care deeply about Malaysia’s environment and sustainability,” he said.

Following the launch of the Explorer Ranger programme, Sunway Theme Parks continued its commitment to enhancing guest experiences with the announcement of a new partnership with Tiny Hong Kong.

The collaboration was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sunway and the founder and director of Toyeast Holdings Limited and TINY Steven Ng.

Ho said that the collaboration would introduce exclusive, high-quality collectibles and merchandise that celebrate Malaysia's cultural heritage.

"The toys from Tiny Hong Kong aren’t just for playing, they incorporate cultural elements that make them special. The quality is exceptional, with a lot of attention to detail. For example, imagine we could have our locally branded cars, buses and trains as part of our collection.

“It’s not just a toy, it becomes a piece of nostalgia and a collectible. As time goes on, the value increases,” he said.

Meanwhile, Steve expressed his excitement about partnering with Sunway Lagoon, noting that both brands share a common vision of celebrating cultural heritage.

"This collaboration reflects our shared vision of creating high-quality Malaysia-inspired souvenirs and toys, telling wonderful Hong Kong and Malaysia stories, and ensuring that every guest can experience joy and appreciation," he said.

Sunway Theme Parks has also signed an MoU with Klook to introduce a dedicated counter and express turnstile that ensures smooth, hassle-free entry while enhancing convenience through technology, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and guest satisfaction.
