Parliament: Foreign Policy On Palestine, Kampung Baru Development On Agenda Today

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s foreign policy stance, particularly on Palestine, and the development of Kampung Baru are among the main issues to be raised on the first day of the Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament today.

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament’s website, during the question-and-answer session, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (PH-Ledang) will ask the Foreign Minister about the main changes in Malaysia’s foreign policy following the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, particularly with regard to the situation in Gaza and Palestine.

Datuk Azman Nasrudin (PN-Padang Serai) will ask the Prime Minister to explain why the development of Malay reserved land in Kuala Lumpur, such as Kampung Baru, faces significant challenges and to what extent overlapping ownership and limited market value contribute to this issue.

Meanwhile, Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (BN-Paya Besar) will ask the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister about the availability and progress of the national carbon trading market ecosystem.

He is also expected to ask about the number of bilateral memoranda of understanding entered into by the government in the national carbon credit market, in line with the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement.

Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Bharu) will then ask the Prime Minister for the latest status of the proposed separation of roles of the Attorney General and the Public Prosecutor.

William Leong Jee Keen (PH-Selayang) is slated to ask the Defence Minister whether the ministry has conducted any post-evaluation study on the implementation of the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) module to date.

After the Q&A session, the sitting will continue with the tabling of the Hire-Purchase (Amendment) Bill 2025 for the first reading by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, followed by three statements by the chairmen of Parliamentary Select Committees.

These will include reports on the gas explosion incident in Putra Heights by the Infrastructure, Transportation and Communication Select Committee chairman; the potential and direction of groundwater resources in Malaysia by the Environment, Science and Plantation Select Committee chairman; and early childhood care and education in Malaysia by the Women, Children and Community Development Select Committee chairman.

The Third Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament will run for 35 days until Dec 4.
