Coalition Of Various Religions, Races Supports GSF Humanitarian Mission

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- A coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and individuals representing communities of various races and religions in Malaysia today expressed its strong support for Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission to Gaza, praising the courage and determination of the activists involved.

In a joint statement, the coalition welcomed the release of all detained activists and considered their steadfastness as a symbol of universal courage in opposing tyranny and injustice.

“We express our highest appreciation and support for the courage of the activists of the Sumud Flotilla Mission who have brought a message of humanitarian solidarity to the Palestinian people,” according to the joint statement.

The joint statement was issued by Malaysian Youth Unity Organisation chairman Dr Muhammad Fairuz Azmi; president of Global Unity Network Shah Kirit Kakulal Govindji; advisor of the Association of NextGen Christians of Malaysia Jason Leong and Malaysian Hindu Sangam Terengganu council advisor Dr Balachandran Gopal Krishnan.

It was also signed by religious activists Dr Charanjit Kaur and Loh Pai Ling; social activist Chew Hoong Ling; founder and president of Asia Pacific Entrepreneurs Association Dr Shawn Loh Sheng Nian; president of Se-Punjabi Youth Movement Malaysia Harinder Kaur; Low Lee Leong of the Patriotic People's Movement, Syahrul Md Yusoff (Kitakan Kawan) and Tai Zee Kin (Pendukung Perpaduan).

The coalition stated that the struggle for the Palestinian people will continue because the issue is not religious in nature, but a universal humanitarian issue that requires the concern of all parties.

Last Thursday, 23 Malaysian activists who participated in the GSF mission were detained by the Zionist regime's army, but were successfully taken out of Israel on Saturday and all of them will arrive in the country tonight.
