"Today's meeting focused on evaluating MACC's performance and the effectiveness of its functional implementation, while maintaining the momentum of JKmR's role as a check-and-balance mechanism for the commission.

"The meeting also proposed that feedback from external parties such as academia, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) should also be considered to ensure an inclusive and holistic anti-corruption approach," the statement read.

In an effort to strengthen the preparation of the JKmR Annual Report 2024, the meeting prompted several improvements, including the setting of performance indicators and aspects of transparency in assessing MACC's outcomes.

"Overall, the convening of this meeting reflects JKmR's continuous commitment to ensuring that MACC continues to operate independently, transparently, and professionally, in order to uphold institutional integrity and accountability," according to JKmR.

In conjunction with the meeting, JKmR also informed that a site visit was held, where members were given the opportunity to inspect key operational facilities, namely the MACC.fm broadcasting center, video interview rooms, detention cells (lockup), and the digital forensics laboratory.

"This visit provided the committee members with direct exposure to the methods of delivering integrity and anti-corruption messages through the radio platform, the implementation of recorded interviews, procedures for managing detainees, and the capability of digital forensics in supporting the investigation process of corruption cases," the statement concluded.
