MABIMS 2026-2030 Strategic Plan To Strengthen Regional Islamic Cooperation

MELAKA, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- The 2026-2030 Strategic Plan of the Ministers of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore (MABIMS) is poised to serve as the key framework for advancing regional Islamic cooperation that is dynamic, progressive, and competitive.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, said the initiative also underscores the progress achieved in recent years, particularly in policy implementation, the management of religious institutions, the harmonisation of the Hijri calendar, and the development of a more efficient halal management system.

“The 21st MABIMS meeting is not merely a regional forum, but a reflection of Islamic solidarity and the shared commitment among Brunei Darussalam, the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Republic of Singapore.

“This year’s MABIMS gathering is expected to strengthen further regional synergy for the well-being of the ummah and a more prosperous future. The dedication expressed is to ensure that the MABIMS platform remains relevant, dynamic, and competitive in navigating the challenges ahead,” he said in a statement here today.

Earlier, he chaired the informal MABIMS meeting and gathering and launched the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan in Ayer Keroh.

Also present were Brunei Darussalam’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr KH. Nasaruddin Umar, Singapore’s Acting Minister in Charge of Muslim Affairs and Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, and Cambodia’s Senior Minister for Special Mission (Islamic Affairs) and observer representative Neak Oknha Datuk Dr Othsman Hassan.

In conjunction with the meeting, a series of programmes were held, including Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam Serantau (regional Islamic forum), the ‘Semanis MABIMS, Seharum Serantau’ community programme, the Melaka International Halal Festival (MIHF’25), the MABIMS Halal Summit 2025, and the MABIMS Halal Technical Committee Meeting.

Mohd Na'im also expressed pride in the gathering and hoped that MABIMS would continue to serve as a leading platform in upholding Islam as the cornerstone of regional progress and prosperity.

“The next meeting will be held in Brunei Darussalam in 2027. It is hoped that this gathering will produce meaningful outcomes and leave a lasting impact on Muslims throughout the region,” he added.
