KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Prominent businesswoman Datuk Seri Anne Eu has become the first Malaysian non-Girl Guide to receive a prestigious global award from the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).
The WAGGGS Medal of Service was bestowed upon Eu at the global conference in Cyprus on Tuesday.
It is the highest honour from the Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS) and WAGGGS.
"This is an honour for Malaysia," the chairman of Eu Yan Sang Malaysia and active philanthropist told Bernama when contacted.
Eu also said she was thankful that the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, and the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, attended the OB-PS Conference in Cyprus.
Tunku Azizah is the Benefactor of OB-PS.
Penelope Gan, the OB-PS country coordinator for Malaysia, described the recognition as a remarkable achievement and a testament to her exemplary leadership, courage, and unwavering commitment to empowerment and service.
"She has made Malaysia immensely proud,” she said.
