JERTIH, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- Eight students from Sekolah Menengah Imtiaz Yayasan Terengganu Besut have brought pride to Malaysia after winning one titanium and two gold medals at the International Innovative Technology Summit (IITS) 2025 in Beijing, China last month.

School principal Termezi Jusoh said the victory was achieved by three teams of Form Four students through their inventive products and applications, which impressed the international judging panel.

“All the students, who have memorised the entire 30 chapters (juzuk) of the Quran, showcased exceptional creativity and innovation through their projects, namely INGAT (Immediate, Notification, Generated, Automatically and Triggered), Bedlog and I-Tasheel,” he told Bernama here today.

He said INGAT, which earned the titanium medal, was developed to prevent cases of babies being accidentally left behind in vehicles.

“The system uses sensors installed beneath the car seats to detect the presence of a baby or child. If one is detected, a notification will immediately be sent to the driver’s mobile phone.

“The device also features a dashboard, emergency light and alarm to draw public attention for a swift rescue,” he said.

Termezi said the Bedlog application, which won a gold medal, was designed to help schools or wardens monitor students who stay up late in dormitories and detect potential bullying incidents.

“The sensor device is placed under the bed to monitor movement through body weight and temperature. If unusual activity or an empty bed is detected, the system sends an alert directly to the warden’s phone,” he explained.

The second gold medal went to I-Tasheel, an educational innovation that enhances Arabic language learning through visual and interactive methods.

“Learning materials from textbooks are transformed into graphics, videos and game-based Q&A sessions. The system is already in use at our school and another religious secondary school in the Klang Valley,” Termezi said.

He added that the school plans to commercialise I-Tasheel in collaboration with local educational institutions.

According to Termezi, the students were mentored by teachers Halisa Mohd Darus, Suhaila Salleh and Muhammad Badruzzaman Hassan, who guided them in the innovation process from the start of the year.
