ALOR SETAR, Nov 22 (Bernama) — A total of RM115.1 million has been approved to hold community programmes involving various community wellbeing initiatives in urban areas throughout this year.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said through the allocation, 3,472 programmes organised by the Community Wellbeing Division (BSK) under the ministry were implemented in collaboration with local authorities, KPKT agencies and strategic partners.
He said that among the programmes implemented were the Urban Poverty Eradication Programme (PPKB) which involved an allocation of RM61.8 million and the Urban Community Sustainability Programme (PKKB) with an allocation of RM2.02 million.
“The Local Agenda 21 (LA21) programme was implemented with an allocation of RM980,000, while through the Community Consensus Secretariat (PSMK) RM304,000 was allocated,” he said in a statement issued by KPKT today.
According to him, under the initiative to maintain Non-Muslim Houses of Worship (RIBI), a total of RM50 million has been channeled, of which 413 RIBIs have benefited.
Nga said the implementation of various community well-being programmes in the city proves that no community is marginalised.
He explained that the synergy between KPKT, PBT and the state governments proves that transformation can be done for the good of the people.
"This success story of KPKT also reflects our commitment to continue providing first-class services to communities nationwide through strong collaboration between the federal government and state governments.
"KPKT remains steadfast in its efforts to ensure that the well-being of urban communities continues to be strengthened and its benefits are felt directly by the people nationwide," he said.
