KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized a Bentley Continental belonging to a businesswoman during its Ops Khas Luxury operation at Jalan Tun Razak here yesterday.
Its director Hamidi Adam said the luxury car was seized over three major offences under the Road Transport Act 1987.
The offences were driving without a Competent Driving Licence (CDL), an expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), and failing to have insurance coverage.
"The road tax (LKM) and insurance coverage for the luxury vehicle had expired since 2018 and the woman claimed she had overlooked the matter as it was previously managed by her family members," he said in a statement today.
Hamidi also revealed that 847 luxury vehicles were seized nationwide from 2025 to Jan 24 this year, with Kuala Lumpur recording the highest number at 168. Negeri Sembilan followed this with 91 seizures, Selangor (87), Penang (76), Melaka (73), Johor (66), Sarawak (55), Kedah (53), Pahang (47), Kelantan (37), Perak (36), Sabah (31), Terengganu (20), and Perlis (nine).
He added that the Kuala Lumpur JPJ would continue to conduct consistent monitoring to ensure all road users comply with established rules and laws.
Members of the public who wish to lodge complaints regarding traffic offences can do so via email at aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my or through the e-aduan@JPJ application platform, providing complete details.
