FELCRA Solidifies Role As Leader In Rural Development On 60th Anniversary

KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Bernama) -- FELCRA Berhad continues to solidify its role as a frontrunner in rural development, with a focus on participant empowerment, food security and the advancement of a sustainable and competitive agro-economy, in celebration of its 60th anniversary.

FELCRA chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said that FELCRA has grown into a strategic national institution that not only drives land development but also fosters a holistic rural socio-economic ecosystem.

“Being recognised as a ‘strategic nation builder’ reinforces FELCRA’s position as a cornerstone of the national development agenda, particularly in empowering rural communities, with more than 104,000 participants benefiting inclusively and sustainably.

“FELCRA is committed to ensuring that every participant not only reaps economic benefits but also becomes an integral part of a larger value chain, thereby elevating the status of rural communities as significant contributors to national prosperity,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the company will continue to move forward with a clear vision, further strengthening its position as a high-impact, resilient leader in rural agro-economic development.

Meanwhile, FELCRA chief executive officer Mohamed Ismi Abdul Majid highlighted that the company is now prioritising the nation’s food security agenda through a comprehensive and high-impact agro-economic strategy.

He noted that FELCRA is actively working to enhance plantation productivity by leveraging modern technology, adopting best agricultural practices, and streamlining operational management to achieve optimal and sustainable yields.

“Moreover, our involvement in the agri-food sector continues to expand through the development of a complete value chain, from production to processing and marketing, contributing to the stability of the nation’s food supply.

“Continuous improvements in plantation management, alongside capacity-building for both staff and participants, will serve as key drivers for FELCRA’s future transformation.

“At the same time, we are accelerating the development of the biogas industry, creating added value through a ‘waste-to-wealth’ approach,” he explained, noting that this reflects FELCRA’s commitment to supporting the country’s sustainability agenda.
