KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) -- A new generation of smart hospitality is set to debut in Malaysia with the development of YOTEL Kuala Lumpur, following a major construction milestone achieved by the YOTEL and Medical Centre integrated project.
Developed in partnership with High Street Holdings, the project introduces the internationally recognised YOTEL brand to Malaysia for the first time, featuring approximately 290 rooms alongside premium lifestyle and wellness facilities, co-working spaces and an integrated medical centre.
The project’s official groundbreaking and topping-out ceremony on Friday marked significant progress in the development of the mixed-use hospitality and healthcare destination located at 82, Jalan Raja Chulan in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s city centre.
The ceremony brought together industry leaders, project stakeholders, consultants, business partners, contractors and members of the media to commemorate both the commencement of the medical centre and the structural completion milestone of the hotel development.
JD Hospitality founder and chief executive officer, Mohamed Abdul Jaleel, in a statement, described the project as the group’s most significant overseas investment since entering the Malaysian market in 2019.
He said the development, built on years of perseverance, collaboration and a shared vision, reflects the group’s long-term commitment to Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia, noting that while YOTEL represents its hospitality expansion ambitions, the Medical Centre carries a more personal significance.
“A hospital has always been my lifelong dream, not just as a business aspiration, but as a place where people are cared for with both competence and compassion,” he said, adding that the medical centre aims to provide quality healthcare in a healing, human-centred environment.
He said the integrated development is expected to become a new landmark in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, combining modern hospitality and healthcare services under one destination.
Meanwhile, Sunray Construction & Interior Sdn Bhd Managing Director Tony Leong said the ceremony symbolised the successful transformation of vision and partnership into reality.
He said the conversion of Menara MIDF into YOTEL Kuala Lumpur, a modern lifestyle hotel focused on innovation, connectivity and comfort that commenced on July 17 last year, is being carried out alongside the development of a Medical Centre set to enhance the city’s healthcare landscape with quality medical infrastructure and services.
“The topping-out of YOTEL reflects the hard work and dedication of all parties involved, while the groundbreaking of the Medical Centre marks the start of another meaningful journey,” he said in the same statement.
Located within the Golden Triangle district, the development is in proximity to major landmarks including the Petronas Twin Towers, Bukit Bintang and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with convenient access to the Raja Chulan Monorail and Bukit Bintang MRT stations.
The integrated project is expected to contribute positively to Malaysia’s tourism, medical travel, and economic sectors, while reinforcing Kuala Lumpur’s position as a leading regional hub for business, leisure and lifestyle experiences.
Upon completion, the YOTEL and Medical Centre project is poised to become a prominent addition to the city's skyline, serving both local and international visitors.
