KUANTAN, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) is conducting a two-day training programme, AI In Action: Revolutionising News in the Digital Age, for local media practitioners here.

The programme, which kicks off today, involves 25 media practitioners from the state and aims, among other things, to provide participants with exposure to and practical skills in using various artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

Instructor Nitra Sari Omar said the course served as a platform for media practitioners to master content production, identify engaging news topics, select content more quickly, and understand data to aid news writing.

“This programme provides journalists with practical training on the latest technology, helping them produce news faster,” said Nitra Sari, who has 20 years of experience in information technology.

Meanwhile, Pahang Media Practitioners Association (Pahang Press) president Fazli Ahmad said such programmes were crucial in helping media practitioners boost productivity in their daily tasks, particularly in producing quality news.

“The world of journalism must keep pace with technological advancements, and such skills are essential for media practitioners at all levels. This programme should therefore be continued from time to time,” said the TV3 journalist.

The programme in Pahang is the ninth in a series of AI training sessions organised for media practitioners, following previous sessions held in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Sarawak, Kedah, Johor and Terengganu.

Bernama is the coordinator of the AI course under the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2025 allocation.

A similar skills training programme is also scheduled to take place in Penang at the end of this month.
