Government Never Forget Contributions By Retirees - KPPA

KOTA BHARU, Aug 21 (Bernama) -- The government has never forgotten the contributions of retirees who have served in the public sector, said Public Service Department (JPA) Director-General Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.

He said that during JPA’s outreach programmes, the department makes it a point to visit retirees facing life’s challenges, whether due to illness or insufficient pension.

“Alhamdulillah, today I had the opportunity to visit two retiree families. One is a police retiree in Kampung Panji who suffers from a chronic illness, while the other is a derivative pension recipient, the widow of a former Kota Bharu Municipal Council (MPKB) officer,” he said.

He told reporters this after visiting Siti Rubiah Mohammad, widow of the late MPKB retiree Kamal Ariffin Mohamed,  during the Santuni Pesara Programme in Pengkalan Chepa today. Earlier, he visited Ibrahim Abdullah, 65, a police retiree in Kampung Panji.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan stressed that collaboration between federal and state agencies enables aid to be channelled more effectively, easing the burden of retirees’ families in need.

“The government has never neglected retirees who have contributed to the public service. Insya Allah, through future programmes we will continue to reach out to retirees as a mark of appreciation for their immense contributions to national development,” he said.

The visit was also attended by representatives from the Social Welfare Department, the Retirement Fund and the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council
