16 Champions To Compete In F&N Magnolia Under-12 Football Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Sixteen champions from the District School Sports Councils (MSSD) in Selangor and the Federal Territories will compete for the F&N Magnolia Under-12 Football Championship trophy from Oct 13 to 16 at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan USJ 23, Subang Jaya.

 Ithnin Mahadi, Sports, Co-curriculum, and Arts Division director at the Ministry of Education (MOE), said the four-day event will bring together 288 players and aims to identify football talent for national sports schools.

He also lauded the long-standing partnership between the MOE and Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd. (F&N), which reflects their ongoing commitment to developing football in Malaysia from the grassroots level.

“Private sector involvement plays a key role in sports development, and we are grateful for the continued support of F&N Beverages Marketing Sdn Bhd,” Ithnin told a press conference here today

Meanwhile, Norazrin Norsyam Yee, F&N’s Government and Industry Engagement director highlighted that their sponsorship of the MOE League since 2008 has encouraged them to organise quality tournaments and expand their support for the Under-12 championship.

The 16 teams will be divided into four groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the quarter-finals.

The participating schools in this inaugural championship include Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Presint 9 (2) and SK Presint 15 (1) from Putrajaya, SK Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah, SK Cochrane, SK Taman Melati, SK Batu Muda, SK Damansara Damai (2), SK Serdang, SK Semenyih, SK Bukit Naga, SK Taman Tun Teja, SK Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, SK Ulum Yam Bharu, SK Seri Pristana, SK Kebun Baharu, and SK Binjai Jaya.
